Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS)


This comprehensive exam is designed to measure students’ progress in learning the Arizona Academic Standards. Students are expected to know and be able to pass the reading, writing and math, as these tests are state mandated in order to graduate. Students in the 11th and 12th grader who have met the standard, but not yet exceeded it, may retake the test. A score of at least 500 on each section is a passing performance. The performance ranges on the AIMS are “falls far below standard” (fail-score 1), “approaches the standard” (fail score of 2), “meets the standard” (pass-score of 3) and “exceeds the standard.” (Pass score of 4
