Tennessee Gateway Tests


The Gateway tests are end-of-course tests in English II, Algebra I and Biology I which Tennessee students must pass as part of the requirements for earning a regular high school diploma, beginning with incoming high school freshmen in 2001-02. To raise the academic bar for all high school students and add accountability for students’ academic performance, Tennessee has adopted a new testing program for End-of-Course Tests in key subjects. The current proficient levels for the Gateway Science section is below proficient 444, proficient at 444, and advanced 525+. The proficiency levels for Gateway Language Arts section are below proficient 454, proficient at 454, and advanced at 511+. The proficiency levels for the Gateway Mathematics section are at below proficiency 494, proficient at 494, and advanced at 539+.
